How many P-seeds should realistically go in a 55g tank?

I would say two because they can get to be 8 to 10 inches. But to keep aggression on one fish down I would keep at least 4.

Again according to size only a couple.I have never kept redbreast so I'm not sure how aggressive they are. With most sunfish it is best to overstock to keep aggression to a minimum. What ever you choose,I myself would keep 4 of either species.

thanks if I go that route I will post some pictures....I'm still trying to go the perch route but I just can't seem to get one that isn't 7-10 inches. So i'm starting to contemplate going with a redgreast.
